Switching from Manychat to BetterSocials: what moves (2026)

Manychat suits WhatsApp, Telegram and SMS flows billed per active contact. BetterSocials suits comments and DMs, from $29 a month for four accounts.

By Demand Memo staff7 min read

Switch from Manychat to BetterSocials when your buyers start conversations in Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube comments and your Manychat bill rises with every post that reaches new people. BetterSocials is best for one flat bill across comments and DMs: Creator is $29 a month for four accounts, with unlimited contacts. Manychat is best for WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS and multi-step flows, and for low volume, where Essential is $17 a month for 250 active contacts, as of September 2026. Nothing imports between the two, so you rebuild each keyword by hand.

The switching question for social selling teams

Manychat and BetterSocials both act on the same demand signal: a person who comments a keyword under your post and wants your link. We take the switching view in this memo, which means what moves over, what stays behind and what each month costs after the move. Our assumption is that your social selling runs on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok or YouTube, and that comments there start real conversations with buyers.

Active contacts are the people Manychat counts on your account each month. That's the number Manychat bills on. BetterSocials bills by plan and connected accounts, with unlimited contacts on every plan.

The table uses Manychat's prices as of September 2026 and BetterSocials' prices as of October 2026, both on monthly billing.

The last column is the switching cost or gain. Manychat stays cheaper while you stay within Essential's 250 contacts. The gap closes as your posts reach more people.

What Manychat costs past the included contacts

Manychat charges for each extra active contact every month, even on annual plans, per its pricing page. On monthly billing, Essential is $17 for 250 contacts, Pro is $39 for 2,500, Business is $99 for 7,500 and Advanced is $199 for 25,000. Billed yearly, those plans are $14, $29, $69 and $139 a month.

The overage rate on monthly billing is $0.10 a contact on Essential, $0.05 on Pro, $0.025 on Business and $0.004 on Advanced. On annual billing it's $0.082, $0.038, $0.018 and $0.0028.

Two worked sums show where the bill lands:

  • A Pro account on monthly billing that reaches 4,000 people pays $39 + 1,500 x $0.05 = $114.
  • A Business account on monthly billing that reaches 10,000 people pays $99 + 2,500 x $0.025 = $161.50, or $69 + 2,500 x $0.018 = $114 billed yearly.

BetterSocials prices don't move with reach. Creator is $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly, for four accounts. Pro is $49 a month, or $39 billed yearly, for six accounts.

Team is $99 a month, or $79 billed yearly, for twelve accounts and unlimited teammates. Every plan has unlimited contacts, DMs and keyword automations. For a demand team, that turns a variable cost per conversation into a fixed one.

Where Manychat still costs less

Manychat is cheaper than BetterSocials at low volume. Its free plan holds 25 active contacts, down from 1,000 before March 2026. Essential at $14 a month billed yearly covers 250 contacts, which is $10 under BetterSocials Creator at $24 a month billed yearly for four accounts.

What the extra money buys on BetterSocials is the rest of the inbox. AI replies in your voice come on every plan, starting with 1,000 AI credits a month on Creator. Manychat includes AI from Pro, at $39 a month or $29 billed yearly.

BetterSocials has no free plan. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial, card required, and a 30-day money-back guarantee on the first paid charge. Our earlier memo, Comment-to-DM tools in 2026, sorted by price band as your contacts grow, covers the cheaper tools too.

What happens to your TikTok automations

Manychat's TikTok automations start when a user sends a message, clicks a link or scans a QR code, per its guide to TikTok automations. Its TikTok comment trigger is a limited rollout in Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia. TikTok's DM API isn't available to accounts registered in the EEA, Switzerland and the UK.

BetterSocials brings TikTok comments into the inbox and lets you reply to them in public. A keyword in a TikTok comment posts a public reply with your link. Outside that three-country rollout, a TikTok comment can't trigger a private DM on any tool.

TikTok DMs arrive in the BetterSocials inbox and can be answered, for accounts outside the UK and Europe. TikTok allows at most 10 replies within 48 hours of the person's last message, and the account must be a Business account. So a TikTok keyword funnel moves from a DM to a public reply when you switch.

What BetterSocials adds on YouTube

BetterSocials covers YouTube comments, and YouTube sits outside Manychat's channel list, so a switch adds coverage here instead of moving it. Comments on your YouTube videos and Shorts land in the same inbox as Instagram and TikTok. The AI drafts replies in your voice, and a keyword comment gets a public reply with your link.

YouTube has no DM API for any tool, so the link rides the public reply. Comments on older videos surface for manual reply, and automation covers recent and active content.

Moving posting into the same tool

Manychat leaves posting to a separate tool. BetterSocials writes and schedules unlimited posts to Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Threads, TikTok and LinkedIn from the place where the replies land. On LinkedIn, a Company Page brings comments into the inbox, while a personal profile gets posting and analytics only.

For a founder who still runs marketing alone, that puts posting and replies on one bill. Our memo on what a chatbot, a scheduler and an AI manager cost a small business in 2026 sets those bills side by side.

What stays in Manychat after a switch

Manychat stays the better tool for WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS and email, which sit outside BetterSocials' six platforms. It also keeps the multi-step sequences you built in its flow builder, where BetterSocials sends one message per keyword. Keep Manychat if those channels carry your pipeline.

BetterSocials doesn't import Manychat flows or keywords. You connect your accounts, set each keyword and write the DM it sends. You're live in minutes, because there's no flow to draw.

One limit holds on every tool after the move. Instagram only lets a business reply to a DM within 24 hours of the person's last message. After that, the conversation is closed until they write again.

What we would do

We'd move to BetterSocials once Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube comments bring in buyers and the Manychat line on your bill changes with every post. Start on Creator at $29 a month for four accounts, or Pro at $49 a month for six accounts if you run more profiles.

Rebuild your top keywords first. Then turn on Draft for me, so every new comment and DM gets a draft in your voice that waits for your approval. Add AI rules with your prices, hours and booking link before you let the AI answer questions on its own.

We'd keep Manychat if WhatsApp, Telegram or SMS carry your pipeline. We'd also keep it if you reach 250 people or fewer a month and Essential covers you.

FAQ

How much does Manychat cost once you go over the included active contacts?

Manychat charges for every extra active contact, monthly, even on annual plans. On monthly billing that's $0.10 a contact on Essential, $0.05 on Pro and $0.025 on Business. A Pro account at $39 a month that reaches 4,000 people pays $39 + 1,500 x $0.05 = $114. BetterSocials Creator stays $29 a month for four accounts.

Is Manychat still free?

Yes, but Manychat's free plan now holds 25 active contacts, down from 1,000 before March 2026. Essential, the cheapest paid plan, is $17 a month or $14 billed yearly for 250 contacts. BetterSocials has no free plan, and Creator is $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly, for four accounts, with a 7-day free trial.

Does Manychat work with TikTok comments?

Manychat's TikTok automations start from a DM, a link click or a QR code scan, and its TikTok comment trigger is a limited rollout in Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia. BetterSocials brings TikTok comments into the inbox and posts a public keyword reply with your link. It also answers TikTok DMs for accounts outside the UK and Europe.

Does Manychat reply to YouTube comments?

Manychat's channels are Instagram, TikTok, Facebook Messenger, Telegram, WhatsApp, SMS and email, and YouTube sits outside that list. BetterSocials brings comments on your YouTube videos and Shorts into the same inbox as Instagram and TikTok, drafts AI replies in your voice and posts a public keyword reply with your link.

Does Manychat post content for you, or do I need a separate scheduler?

Manychat leaves posting to a separate tool. BetterSocials writes and schedules unlimited posts to Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Threads, TikTok and LinkedIn from the same place as the inbox. Creator is $29 a month for four accounts, and Pro is $49 a month, or $39 billed yearly, for six.

Do AI reply tools for Instagram need my own OpenAI API key?

BetterSocials doesn't need one, because AI replies are included on every plan. Creator gets 1,000 AI credits a month, Pro 2,000 and Team 4,000 shared, and each reply or draft uses one credit. When credits run out the AI pauses instead of charging more. Manychat includes AI from its Pro plan at $39 a month.

Can I move my Manychat automations to BetterSocials?

BetterSocials starts fresh instead of importing Manychat flows or keywords. You connect your accounts, set each keyword and write the DM it sends, and you're live in minutes because there's no flow to draw. If you run WhatsApp, Telegram or SMS in Manychat, keep it for those, since they sit outside BetterSocials' six platforms.
